Hunter Young

Upon graduation from Virginia Tech, Mr. Young practiced engineering in suburban Washington D.C. for five years. Following this, he relocated to the Roanoke, Virginia area where he has lived and worked for the past 25 years. His 30 years of progressive experience have led him through several roles including project engineer, project manager and senior project manager. He has led Civil Consulting Group since 2007.

Throughout his career, Mr. Young has stayed close to daily project activities. He has significant experience with all facets of hydrology, hydraulics, stormwater management, and site design including athletic/recreational facilities. Mr. Young’s interest in problem solving and design extends beyond civil engineering; he holds four United States patents. Mr. Young has served on the Botetourt County Board of Zoning Appeals since 2012 and on the Board of Directors of the Western Virginia Water Authority since 2017. In 2023 he joined the board of the Rockbridge Creative Institute. His experience in these roles has taught him a great deal about the inner workings and demands of local governments, utilities, and nonprofits. Mr. Young is affiliated with the following associations: American Water Works Association (AWWA), American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), and National Eagle Scout Association (NESA)
