Dry Stone Walling

This hands-on dry stone walling class introduces students to the fundamentals of building strong, long-lasting stone walls without the use of mortar. Participants will learn the principles behind traditional dry stone construction, including stone selection, wall layout, proper footing, and techniques for fitting and balancing stones for stability and durability.

Through guided instruction and practical, on-site building, students will develop an understanding of structure, weight distribution, and craftsmanship as they work collaboratively to construct a dry stone wall. The class emphasizes accuracy, patience, and problem-solving, while also highlighting the environmental and cultural significance of this time-tested building method.

Designed for beginners and those looking to build foundational skills, this course offers a supportive learning environment focused on hands-on experience and real-world application. By the end of the class, participants will have practical walling experience and the confidence to continue working with stone independently.
