Upcoming Plans for 2025

Learning Through Hands-On Experience

Every project is a testament to our students’ skill, dedication, and vision. These hands-on experiences aren’t just about learning—they’re about building something real, meaningful, and enduring. By the end of their first year, students will have completed full structures they can look at and walk in.

Here’s a glimpse of the work our students will undertake in 2025.

Timber-Framed Beds

Building a real bed they can sleep in is the perfect starting point for all RCI students, blending functionality with timeless design. This hands-on project introduces students to the essential tools and techniques of woodworking, from measuring and cutting timber to crafting precise joints. As one of the first builds in the program, it’s designed to help students become confident in the workshop, master their tools, and lay the groundwork for more advanced projects. By the time it’s complete, each student will have a handcrafted bed—both a personal accomplishment and a symbol of their journey into the world of craftsmanship.

The Tower

The Tower will be a stunning creation, inspired by the charm of an old European Columbarium (Dove Cote) and reimagined as a functional and breathtaking cottage. Its design will feature a solid masonry structure, evoking the timeless strength of classic European architecture. Inside, the kitchen will anchor the first floor, while bunks will spiral upward along a handcrafted timber staircase. At the top, a living area will offer panoramic views of the valley below—a space to reflect, relax, and be inspired. With a timber-framed roof and enduring masonry walls, The Tower will stand as a testament to the artistry, precision, and vision cultivated through RCI’s program.

The Gatehouse

The Gatehouse will evoke the grandeur of a European provincial chateau, combining timeless design with skilled craftsmanship. Its two towers will be connected by a beautifully timber-framed bridge, creating an architectural masterpiece. The room spanning the road will serve as a cozy yet elegant living space for the cottage, blending functionality with charm. With its intricate timber framing and striking design, The Gatehouse will stand as a symbol of creativity, precision, and the enduring traditions upheld by RCI.

The Conservatory

The Conservatory Cottage will capture the charm of a manor estate’s conservatory, reimagined as a stunning and functional home. The lower story, partially nestled below ground, will house the bath and bedrooms, offering a cozy and private retreat. Above, the kitchen and living area will take center stage in a breathtaking glass-enclosed space, blending natural light with timeless design. This project will embody the artistry and purpose that define the RCI Master Builder Program, creating a space where beauty meets practicality.

The Sheep Barn

The Sheep Barn will be a cottage that captures the rugged beauty of a rustic stone sheep barn, transformed into a cozy and functional living space. Constructed from fieldstone, this project will showcase timeless craftsmanship and the enduring appeal of natural materials.

The Folly

The Folly will serve as a unique, habitable garden structure, blending artistry with functionality. It will provide a tranquil space for students and visitors to draw inspiration, reflect, and connect with nature. Set amidst the beauty of the campus, The Folly will offer a one-of-a-kind retreat, supporting the creative and entrepreneurial spirit of RCI.
